Midnight Thoughts on Disability, Christianity, and Identity

See, we forget that, existing just as we are, we are made perfect in our Christian faith, of trying to suffer with Jesus on the Cross, and love like he loved. Because of that, we shouldn't look at the things we're born with, or the things that cause us to be permanently "different" as bad. We don't consider red hair to be bad (anymore) we don't consider being left handed to be bad, we (shouldn't) consider different races to be bad. So why do we consider disability, so many of which exist in a social context, to be bad?

Grief Turns You Into A Selfish Monster

What? That seems harsh, but it's just using my personal experience. I feel like personally, I've started paying more attention to the "little" things in life.  Most of those aren't so little, but before my dad and grandma died, they seemed commonplace. As an example,  things like Father's Day, Daddy-Daughter Dances, "Happy Birthday Grandma/Dad" cards… Continue reading Grief Turns You Into A Selfish Monster

Can you be self-sacrificing and still practice self-love?

Matthew 7:12 says: One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your… Continue reading Can you be self-sacrificing and still practice self-love?

Jesus is Our Bridegroom, so Why Don’t We Treat Him Like One?

While I personally have never been in a relationship, I do have several friends who have, and they often ask me for advice or simply tell me how their relationship is going. One thing I've picked up on is that when you're in a good, healthy, relationship you feel a constant need for the… Continue reading Jesus is Our Bridegroom, so Why Don’t We Treat Him Like One?

Don’t Bring Peppa Pig To Mass

(None of these links are affiliate and I receive no reimbursement from Amazon or any other sellers)  I'd like to preface this with - I LOVE LITTLE KIDS AT CHURCH! In fact, I love all ages at church. But what I don't love? Bringing secular things to church. This may come off harsh - after all, if the… Continue reading Don’t Bring Peppa Pig To Mass

The Glorification of Toxic Femininity

So, in response to the Gillette ad I've seen a lot of people (mainly men) saying things like "Imagine if women had this happen to them! The feminists would be outraged!" along with "Theres no such thing as "toxic" masculinity" etc. While I already addressed the one about toxic masculinity in a earlier post I… Continue reading The Glorification of Toxic Femininity

Toxic is Just Another Word For Sinful

Hey, just a heads up that this post implies some transgender ideology. That is in no way the intent and in fact the opposite intent is intended - That our sex has very little to do with our personality. So, the latest buzzword in the social media world (and perhaps the "real" world as well)… Continue reading Toxic is Just Another Word For Sinful

The Dangers of Staying Together Too Long

Toxic masculinity is making the rounds lately, even more so because of an article by the American Psychological Association . As always, very few people have read the actual article and instead they're listening to biased sources offering their opinion on the article. But the actual article... isn't that bad? It actually makes a lot of… Continue reading The Dangers of Staying Together Too Long

The 2 Worst Types of Catholics Pt. 1

I have met no one worse than someone who fits into one of the two groups: -A rich Catholic -A Catholic who thinks they’re perfect I’m going to work backwards in talking about them and start with the second one.  As Christians we’re called to humility, but a lot of us don’t realize how much… Continue reading The 2 Worst Types of Catholics Pt. 1
